Lossless Complex-Valued Optical-Field Control with Compound Metaoptics

Forming a desired optical field distribution from given source requires precise spatial control of field's amplitude and phase. Low-loss metasurfaces that allow extreme phase polarization fields have been demonstrated over the past few years. However, provide remained lossy, utilizing mechanisms such as reflection, absorption, or loss to amplitude. Here, we describe manipulation without loss, by using two lossless phase-only separated distance. We first demonstrate combined beam-former splitter component this approach. Next, show high-quality computer-generated three-dimensional hologram. The proposed metaoptic platform combines advantage lossless, complex-valued with physically small thickness. This approach could lead low-profile, holographic displays, compact components, high precision tweezers for micro-particle manipulation.
